What is American CLAY CLUB?
It is a 12 week English club that combines musical expression and ceramic art introduction for children ages 4.5 – 7 yrs. within a kindergarten setting. It meets for approximately 50 minutes each week at the same time.
Every week covers a familiar theme, introduces a new song, and vocabulary words. AND CLAY! for ceramic skill building!
The class usually begins with a beautiful picture book and songs repeating simple vocabulary words. As singing is one of Suzanne’s favorite things to do, she is sure to get the room clapping and singing along.
After the exploration the objects from book and items within the songs, the children are given fresh, wet clay to make something for their club project.
Over the 12 weeks, the will children create 6-8 characters or pieces that tie to the overall theme (for example: farm, school, family, food, etc.)
Upon completion of the club, the ceramic objects can be used for play or as a display – for a positive visual tied to language learning and self-expression.
