What is American CLAY CLUB?
It is an 8 week English club that combines musical expression and ceramic art introduction for children ages 4.5 – 7 yrs. within a kindergarten setting. It meets after snack for 45-50 minutes each week.
Every week covers a familiar theme, introduces a new song, and vocabulary words. AND most weeks: CLAY! for fine motor skill building!
The class begins with a beautiful picture book and songs of simple vocabulary words. Then the children are given fresh, wet clay to make something from the theme as their club project.
Over the 8 weeks, the children create 4 small characters or pieces that tie to the overall theme (for example: farm, school, family, food, etc.)
Upon completion of the 8 week club, the ceramic objects can be used for play or display! It’s a positive reminder of language learning and self-expression.
